ACEL's Leadership Academy is now online!

Most leaders in educational organisations and systems are aware of the need for and value of mindfully constructed organisational plans and strategies. Up until now, however, few have given much thought to the need for and value of mindfully constructed leadership strategies.

A leadership strategy connects the organisational plans, strategy and priorities with the capabilities that are required to succeed. In educational settings that success must be about student success.

Like organisational plans and strategies, leadership strategies are based on an analysis of the current situation and informed views of the desired future and culture.

ACEL has recognised that influential leaders require more than knowledge and competencies to engage in inspirational ways with colleagues, they also require deep learning, understanding and confidence that they can make a difference in complex, unfamiliar and changing circumstances. ACEL also recognises that leadership development for understanding and the ability to apply that understanding in creative and innovative ways requires a new framework and a new ‘curriculum’.
