“It has become increasingly clear that leadership at all levels of the system is the key lever for reform...” (Fullan, 2001). ACEL recognises leaders are in classrooms, they are in ground-level offices and they are in multi-level buildings. We are connecting the new ‘tribe’ of educational change agents through ACEL’s Emerging Leaders’ strategy.

ACEL has partnered with the Association of Heads of Independent Schools Australia (AHISA) to enable the delivery of a tailored leadership strategy for 2011. Focussing on the ACEL Leadership Capability Framework© all 2011 AHISA conference delegates will undertake the ACEL leadership online diagnostic which will then enable a full profile to be created about each learner. The results of the assessment then guide the learner in their leadership development.

Most leaders in educational organisations and systems are aware of the need for and value of mindfully constructed organisational plans and strategies. Up until now, however, few have given much thought to the need for and value of mindfully constructed leadership strategies.

A leadership strategy connects the organisational plans, strategy and priorities with the capabilities that are required to succeed. In educational settings that success must be about student success.
